The Global Corporate Governance Forum is an International Finance Corporation (IFC) multi-donor trust fund facility located in the IFC/World Bank Corporate Governance and Capital Markets Department. The Forum was co-founded by the World Bank and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in 1999.
The Forum promotes sustainable economic growth and poverty reduction within the framework of agreed international development targets. The Forum focuses on practical, targeted corporate governance initiatives at the local, regional and global level.

Forum Progress Report Summer 2008
In our latest Progress Report, Steering Committee member Miguel Marques outlines the role that corporate governance plays in fueling economic growth. Private Sector Advisory Group Deputy Chairman Christian Strenger explains the value of corporate governance scorecards.
The Progress Report summarizes the achievements we have made during the first half of 2008 including our successful production of the Corporate Governance Board Leadership Resources Kit; a Brussels seminar to help candidate and potential candidate countries better understand the EU approach to corporate governance; and the Forum’s support for Mexican companies’ efforts to comply with corporate governance requirements in the country’s recently enacted securities law.
EU Corporate Governance Standards: Report on the Proceedings of the Seminar for EU Candidate and Potential Candidate Countries Including Lessons Learned from New Members
Within its mandate to raise awareness and disseminate international corporate governance standards, the Forum held a comprehensive seminar in Brussels on February 20, 2008 on the European Union’s (EU) approach to corporate governance for EU candidate and potential candidate countries.
Participants discussed the status of EU corporate governance requirements and best practices since the adoption of the EU Action Plan in 2003.

April 1, 2008 – India’s Securities Exchange Board and IFC’s Global Corporate Governance Forum are promoting heightened dialogue on corporate governance reform among Indian enterprises, engaging business, domestic and international investors, and regulators. The rollout of the Forum’s new Corporate Governance Board Leadership Resources forms part of a program designed to enhance skills and knowledge among board directors.
