ICGN Annual Conference, June 18-20,2008, Seoul

The International Corporate Governance Network (ICGN) will be holding its 2008 annual conference in Seoul, Korea from June 18-20, 2008. This year’s conference will be co hosted by the Korea Exchange and the Korea Corporate Governance Service. The event is officially supported by the Korean Government and the Mayor of Seoul.

The event will focus on the globalization of capital markets and the impact this has on traditional corporate governance. The conference begins with an overview of the international reform agenda led by a keynote address from Ángel Gurria, Secretary General of the OECD, then follows insights from leading figures in corporate governance on developments since the Asia crisis.

Other sessions will explore major global trends including the convergence of reporting standards, regulatory harmonisation, the growing power and influence of proxy advisors. There will also be hot topic workshops and breakout sessions providing focused debate on such issues as the subprime meltdown, cross-border voting, corporate governance progress in BRIC countries
