The Latin America and Caribbean region accounts for the largest share of IFC commitments. In Fiscal Year 2012, our commitments in the region totaled about $3.7 billion for our own account and we mobilized an additional $1.3 billion. Advisory Services' portfolio included 79 projects worth $81.6 million.
We use our investment products and advisory services in the region to accelerate development by broadening access to finance, promoting infrastructure development, and helping the private sector generate productive jobs and deliver essential services to underserved segments of the population.
Our clients have generated significant development impacts in the region. In Fiscal Year 2012, IFC's 134 investments in the region's private sector supported almost 80,000 jobs. Its program benefited 210,000 farmers, 130,000 students, 100,000 patients, helped distribute water to 2.4 million customers, and facilitated power-distribution to some 800,000. IFC mobilized 240,000 SME loans and 1.7 million microfinance loans amounting to $15 billion from investment partners, providing critical financing to businesses and entrepreneurs in the region.
